Duramatic Transmission

  • Hard working automatic transmission
  • True engine breaking
  • Drive belt constantly engaged for long life
  • Competition´s belt fails sooner
  • Most durable transmission in the market

This durable, automatic transmission is made of a centrifugal clutch with primary and driven belt clutches. The centrifugal clutch engages as revolutions per minute rise, allowing the primary clutch to stay engaged with the belt at all times. Constant engagement both reduces belt wear and extends belt life, as well as providing true engine breaking.

CVT

CVT means Continuous variable transmission and is the common propulsion principle for ATVs. With the CVT, speed, dependent on the torque, is regulated steplessly via a belt drive. This mostly takes place in combination with a centrifugal clutch (ARCTIC CAT 650H1 engine) and a reduction gear. This propulsion principle facilitates an infinitely variable speed control without shifting processes and especially offroad, in connection with the offroad reduction "Low ", it offers large advantages. As alternative to the CVT or a transmission with manual clutch can be used.

Ride in Suspension

Redesigned seat

Notice the low–profile seat – very comfortable. As you settle into the saddle you notice there´s something different about this wheeler. The machine hunkers down giving you the sense that you are one with bike. That’s called ride-in. Not only does it raise your confidence, it lowers your centre of gravity. Now you know where we came up this business about sticking like glue

H2 V-TWIN EFI - Engine

Designed and manufactured by Arctic Cat, the brand- new H2 engine is a V-Twin, EFI 4-stroke with dynamic engine braking. We crafted this torque-tuned motor for mind-blowing acceleration. In fact this ATV rivals most full-size pickups for towing and acceleration.

SHAFT SAVER

To handle the H2’s enormous power our engineers decided it would be smart to beef up the rear differential. New components are designed to transfer maximum power to the wheels while protecting the driveline from the onslaught of power.

HEMI PERFORMANCE

The H in H2 stands for hemispherical combustion chamber. The primary advantage of this design is more complete, more efficient combustion. Electronic fuel injection takes the smooth-running engine to a higher level by adjusting for climate and altitude. EFI assures effortless starts, even on  cold mornings.

PERFORMANCE-MINDED ERGONOMICS

The H2 V-Twin powers a new lengthened chassis (521/2 inches) that is both agile and durable. We redesigned the seat giving it a lower profile. Then we went to work on the handlebars. Lighter, more responsive steering improves handling. The combined result gives you the feeling of riding “In” the machine instead of “On” it.

Differential

Facilitates different turning speeds of the wheels of an axle, e.g. when driving along curves. In offroad use however, the differential is rather obstructive. Therefore and because of the rather small track width of the ATVs/quads many manufacturers, in favor of better offroad and road characteristics, abandon a differential at the rear axle. At the front axle with "4WD" ATV however, a differential becomes necessary for the reduction of the guidance forces. Everyone who has ever tried to drive with an inserted front axle differential lock, knows why. See also differential lock, rigid axle, rigid drive shaft.

Differential lock

Many ARCTIC CAT models are equipped with a manual front axle differential lock. With inserted four-wheel drive and a spinning wheel on the front axle usually further advancing is possible by switching on the differential lock. By locking the differential, both wheels are forced to run with the same speed. Apart from the manual differential lock there are also automatic differential lock systems. Before driving along curves the differential lock has to be loosened absolutely.

Service brake

Most quality vehicles are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. There are different systems, either the discs are connected directly to the wheel or fixed at the axle at the drive shaft next to the angular gear. A disadvantage of the latter method is that maintenance is more laborious because access is not so easy and repair or exchange work takes longer. According to the homologation regulations, the operating brake assembly must be able to retard the vehicle with at least 5m/s2. Activated by means of the foot brake pump.

SPEEDRACK

The patented rack system SPEEDRACK facilitates a fast and simple installation of diverse accessory articles from transportation box to passenger seat. The speed rack system is an exclusive trademark of ARCTIC CAT.

3 in 1 (Three in one)

Special feature designation at ARCTIC CAT. 3in1 designates a model
variant with which it is possible is to make out of 1 base vehicle 3 different versions by means of different accessories. The customer can select between a large rack, a transportation box or a passenger seat, which can be exchanged by means of a patented quick-locking mechanism without any tool. The place for this alternating system results from the long wheel base of the models 500 3in1 and 650 H1 3in1.

Fully Independent Suspension

By eliminating the sway bar, which the competitors use, Arctic Cat´s system enhances traction by providing full tire contact in all types of terrain

  • FIS is the only truly independent suspension
  • Competition claims independent supspensions still lock together with a sway bar
  • Less than fully independent suspensions means less mobility and less traction

Start in Gear

An automatic choke works with our star in gear feature to get you underway on demand (you no longer have to be in neutral position) no matter what the weather.

Adjustable Preload shocks

So you can set the preload on the shocks to tailor the ride to the individual riding styles and loads.

  • Fine tune the suspension to particular riding conditions or individual riding preferences
  • Soft, medium, stiff settings
  • Adjust suspension to handle heavier loads
  • Five positions in the rear and front suspensions

Ground Clearance

Increased ground clearance means better trail riding to go over obstacles that stops the competition

The maximum distance between the underground and the lowest point at the underside of the vehicle.
