Most quads are equipped with a rigid axle, which is fastened to a rear swing arm (as with a motorcycle). The advantage is a smaller side inclination when driving fastly along curves e.g. with the motocross or supermoto. The rigid axle is often confounded with the "rigid drive shaft", which actually is an independent suspension without differential (see independent suspension).
